Acer rubrum 'Summer red'

Category: Deciduous — Red maple

Medium-sized maple, with striking discolouration. The young leaves are red, which provides a good contrast to the dark green adult leaves. The red-green leaves turn yellow-orange to purple-red in autumn. In March-April the Acer rubrum 'Summer Red' blooms with red flowers in small umbels. On calcareous soil and very dry soil, growth will stagnate and there will be less autumn coloring.
