Dipsacus sylvestris

Category: Perennials — Wild teasel

A pirennial or biennial plant with an upright, rosette-forming growth habit that can reach a height of 150 to 200 cm. A rosette of leaves forms in the first year, which develops into stems in the second year. Lilac flower cones appear from July to September. Dipsacus sylvestris prefers a sunny location in well-drained, calcareous soil. It is native to roadsides and dikes. The plant can be used decoratively in dried bouquets or ecologically as food (seed heads) for animals. It is winter-hardy and fairly resistant to pests and diseases.
