Malus 'Sugar tyme'

Category: Deciduous — Crab apple

Synonym: Malus 'Sutyzam' Crab apple with upright growth in its early stages. Later, it develops a regular, rounded to broadly oval growth habit that can reach a height of 6 meters. It grows approximately as wide as the lenght. Numerous salmon-pink to white, fragrant flowers appear from April to May, followed by small, bright red crab apples that remain on the tree well into winter. The autumn color is yellow to orange. This tree prefers a sunny to partially shaded location in well-drained, nutrient-rich, calcareous soil. It is suitable as a tree in small gardens, avenues, and parks, and is valuable to bees and birds. Malus 'Sugar Tyme' is very winter-hardy and is known for its good resistance to diseases and pests. The fruits are not poisonous, but are sour and are primarily used for decoration.
