Verbascum nigrum

Category: Perennials — Algemener Mollien

This perennial plant forms a rosette of leaves in the first year, after which an upright stem emerges in the second year, reaching a height of 100 to 150 cm. From July to September, it produces yellow flowers and purple stamens on spike-shaped flower clusters, which attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Verbascum nigrum prefers a sunny location in dry conditions. This plant is suitable for heather gardens or natural gardens. It is very winter-hardy and resistant to pests and diseases. It can be used medicinally, for example, as a tea for coughs and respiratory problems. This plant is not poisonous, but may irritate skin upon contact.
